My Mine

Memories sinkin’, deep in, leakin’ in my mine,
All of the time tried to forget you,
Thought I could get you to be mine.
Memories sinkin’, deep in, leakin’ in my mine,
All of the time I can’t forget to,
Tried to forget you in my mine

Pretend to not have the patience,
Pretend that there is enough time for waiting,
Remembering when we kept it a basic,
I wanna go back so that I could taste it
What do I care for?
You are not there anymore?
I was not careful,
And its all your fault,
You let me fall

I’ll be all right,
I will be just fine
I’ll be OK,
Once you get out my mind

9 Wonderful Things About My Time At Roma Girls

1. I ALWAYS had the best classmates both in Junior and Senior Secondary classes(High school)
When I got to Roma Girls in grade 8,I was put in 8H,for Home Economics and let me tell you that class was wild! Was with them up to grade 9. They were so hilarious and we were always in trouble with teachers for making the silliest comments (what do you expect from 13 year olds?).

And in grade 9,we used to spend all manual work time at the stairs near the teachers’ flats that we called the chipinda (bedroom) discussing the troubles of life and telling each other so many stories. We had a real comradeship and love for each other.

In high school,I was placed in 10A ….oh my gosh that class! lol They made so much uncontrollable noise! We were always getting lectured by prefects and teachers about how we were the noisiest A class in the school history (A’s are the nerds of the school apparently).

Nevertheless, they were some of the smartest girls I have ever met in my life. As well as the funniest people you could ever meet!

Addictive girls,I could never get enough of them, the best friends I’ve had so far. Despite some problems in 12th grade I love them all whole heartedly…ALL!

2. Sister Keiran(sp)
Sister Keiran IS Roma Girls OK, forget what you heard lol That woman and manual work! She always followed up! Came to your class and called you out! Hommie don’t play! lol

3. Manual Work

Hated that time of day with a passion but now that I think about it,it kept our school habitable. Everyday at 13:50 everybody (except grade 12’s at some point) reported for manual work! Cleaning every corner of the school! Manual work changed every term and some people sold food in the Dining Hall but everybody did something! For the majority of my stay at Roma Girls I was mostly cleaning my classroom(s),though I swept the stairs at the teachers flats in grade 9. Hardest Manual Work I’ve ever had!

4. Crazy Prefects

Until my friends became prefects,I thought all of them were insane and always looking for trouble. To be honest some of them were total bitches, like I just have to be honest,no wonder I didn’t want to be one(I can be an extreme bitch sometimes,no lie ppl would have suffered lol)

Each year of prefects always came with some kinda drama,my first year they were always on my case about my hair(will get to that in a moment). And during inspection, they took whatever was pretty, even if it was allowed at school like Vaseline(really -_-) LUNATICS!

5. Natural Hair

As part of the school rules you were not allowed to have chemically treated hair and if you were found wanting you would be sent home.

So yes,I had natural hair for 5 years like a good school child(after being harassed by prefects to get my relaxer out) ,it was my best and worst hair days but still natural hair was not for me. And no I didn’t big chop nor did I transition. I “washed” out the relaxer with Mosi and dyed my hair jet black!

6. Crazy Teachers

Teachers at Roma Girls had character,no lie! My class teacher in grade 8 was Mrs Mupinde, when we got there we were told that she is a mad dog! lol(Actually she called herself that) but she was okay though she would say the most crazy things and called the teachers in the science department(including herself) animals.

The student teachers were also something else! In grade 8 and 9 they did what they came for but the ones that you meet in high school are something else, especially the male student teachers lol

In grade 11,we had this student teacher Mr Siame, that man was for chikwela! He always came to our class even when it was not his lesson, even at break time! Just to chat with girls fibi! lol He asked over-personal questions. He asked Madaliso to hug him on Awards Day! haa I laughed at her lol

And Mr Sondashi Math teacher, that man would come to our class high as a kite on weed like, damn. Okay he would get drunk! Especially when Mr Hamudobe was around, that man would get hammered! At least he sobered up in grade 12.

Haa,I almost forgot Mr Kaela, when we were in grade 10 he came to our class everyday to ask people(Liness) to help him with work in the computer room. It was legit (for us anyway) he paid us once (KR 5)…then in grade 11 his sins caught up with him and he left the school.

Mr Mutati, such a weird short man with a very loud voice, the Matero boys know him so no need to explain more. He always complained about teaching girls…because of what happened with Keezy lol

7. Mass

I always dreaded going for mass but once I got in the service it was very  powerful

8. Variety Shows/Awards Day/Joint Meetings

Roma Girls always had to have some reason to party okay, when Mr Kaela was the DJ at Awards Day or when CLC would have variety shows. Party, party, party! We would be dancing in our seats if we couldn’t get up and dance.

Awards Day…I never went for the last one because of “sickness” but I always enjoyed looking at people in other classes get a lot of awards,I don’t know…it’s like why did people enjoy watching Michael Jackson get 8 grammys in one night. It’s incredible, seeing people getting rewarded for smart work(unless they’re in your class).

Joint meetings. Roma Girls is married to Matero Boys! We always had joint meetings with Matero Boys in every club, except debate because it was regional, JETS and LEO. But CLC,Youth Alive,Press Club, Chess…can they miss?

I don’t even get how we are married? How did it even happen?lol Today, majority of my male compadres are ex Matero Boys.

That’s how deep things are, from the creation of both schools. lol

9. Drama

An all girls school is bound to be full of drama! Mrs Mupinde wearing skinny jeans, mass numbers of people fainting, rumours of lesbians and people that are lesbian proclaiming their love for another girl in the car park (” Vicky,if you don’t love me I’ll die”),fights (yes girls beat each other up),Big Jayne stealing, the Big 5 getting food from the DH,the Dope girls vandalizing the labs, teachers dating students…drama, drama, drama…

I miss that school lol

A Random Thought

The love of God is an everlasting love because of this I am assured of joy. Even when human beings do not think I am good enough, God thinks I’m worth His love. At the End of the day and the end of my life, that’s all that matters.

There will be times in life when you will learn the most important lessons in your life through pain…when that time comes never give up and hold on to your faith.

I have changed a lot over the years because of pain,no matter what I have learnt that I am strong in Christ. No matter how much I’ve changed fact remains my desire for him has not.

I know that, even in pain the next step is crystal clear and that eventually these steps will connect and I will become the person I am meant to be.

TOXICITY

You’re toxic I’m slipping under

Being ME. Africa Tag(Zambia)

As I’ve grown older I have learnt to embrace what God created me as which is African,Zambia, 100% negro. When I was a kid,I was brain washed into thinking that it was ugly to be black and have afro textured hair and brown skin and the schools I went to were full of white and biracial ppl,who never made me feel bad but I still hated being black. I thought that if your skin was dark you were ugly…for years and years and grandparents with a colonial mentality didn’t help with their language of “abasungu fye”. Then I went to Roma Girls…Something in me just changed there and I thank God for that school. At that school, just by having my hair natural…no relaxer,no synthetic braids,no weaves, I learnt that being what God made you to be is nothing to be ashamed of. It was like,at Roma Girls that’s where I found Africans, unashamed Zambians who NEVER acted like anything else but that. At my other schools I would see the black girls changing their very much Nyanja accents to sound like the mixed girls,at Roma…chinyanja was the order of the day(together with bemba, you know Lusaka),at my old schools if you ate nshima at lunch they’d mock you,at Roma ppl praised it as if it was a rare delicacy(I hate nshima tho,I just hate it naturally lol)

Apart from female empowerment,I also learnt African empowerment…of course ppl complained about Zambia,Zambians always complain but I never ever felt like I had to be sorry for being a girl and most importantly for being my bemba-nsenga,afro textured, brown skinned self.

And for that God,I’d like to thank you for taking me to Roma Girls!

Facts Of My Life Part 2: When I was 18; The Trimester [ First Contact]

It’s like 1 AM and I can’t sleep because some dude called me at 23hrs to creep me out!

I hate when I discover a cute guy is just a creep that makes me want to dry vomit! Uh!

Anyway so after that phone call it got me to thinking if I ever had a bad feeling about some of the people I’ve met in my life and the answer was only those dudes that I avoided.( Why did my cousin give that nig my number?)

Well this is a blog post about some of my most memorable first meetings with the people in my life that have influenced me most. I would’ve added my mum and dad but I don’t remember how I met them lol!

Oh and before I start, thanks to all those that read my tumblr lol you keep me typing *rock star kisses*

#Random my dad has like insomnia or something he never sleeps! Like what the heck dude it’s 1 O’clock!

Now to begin, my sister Mwape.

That little insect, the only thing I remember about our first meeting was that she was just sleeping on a couch! My dad brought her home and called me and my cousin and told us to ” come and see the baby” and she was there, on a couch, sleeping.

At first you know being the kid that ran that for 2 and a half years I used to compete for attention but my mum sat me down one day and said ” Waza, this baby is your dolly okay?” And thats how I made my sis do everything with me and to this day I still bug and irritate her! lol

Next memorable meeting, my friend Nabanji (@nanjinebwe for dem tweeters). Nabanji was the first friend I had in my life and for a very long time we never fought until…..the boobs came…lol

Well I met Nabanji at her birthday party (can’t remember which one) we were very small, don’t know how our parents knew each other. First things said “what’s your name” ” my name is Nabanji Nanjomwa Nanji Nebwe”, how she remembered all her names is beyond me! lol. She had tuma earrings and was looking very cute and she was so friendly. That was also the first and last party I ever played ‘Pin The Tail On The Donkey” After that we played so many games, were in a band and tried to be super models lol good times

My late brother Mutale, I don’t know how that guy got here lol I think I blacked out man all I remember is my mum going into labour then he was there lol I always tried to lift him and played with him all through out his life, even when I became a stupid teenager. In emmasdale I was always seen with my brother ( because I had to take him to his friends’ houses lol) but we always enjoyed walking home together. Even though he was a lil melodramatic lol (like me) he was always fun to be with and gave the best hugs.

Linda. This girl the first time I met her she said nothing! lol She was just staring at me in all my tom boy glory playing with the boys in the yard. Her cousin Chisenga was my friend and he told me she only spoke Bemba lol the next day my mum told me to go and play with her and needless to say we got along famously. She taught me how to make scone out of mud! “Nshilefwya bunz-ee ndefya scone” lol

Mayaba. I met this natural haired babe in 05 at a miserable school where I had no friends lol Man that girl, the first time I saw her she had lipgloss on that I could see from the door!lol Sir Greg( class teacher) made her sit in front of me and I asked her a few questions and then when she told me she was from Rhodespark school, then came the ice-breaker question, “do you know Nabanji ( How I met a lot of my friends lol)?” Oh, from there convo just flowed and by the end of the day we were close friends! lol ( I miss you Mayaba!)

Mushaukwa! Tall girl, met her in grade 8. The first day she came to school she was already in trouble with sister Doris lol. One day on our way to mass I heard her singing a song from Cheetah Girls 2 and I asked her “you’ve watched cheetah girls before” she replied ” I watch it every morning” Hello, BFF For life! lol

The Cockroaches. These were the first boys I was seriously friends with. my sisters and I called them the cockroaches because, well we needed to give them a name they were ALWAYS together.

The initial group line up was Milimo Mbewe, Jack Kakwela and Chanda Mwansa. Met these three in 07 at church. I had a crush on Jack because I used to see him around and I saw them at church too (my grade 8 diary has all the events that happened lol) but never really spoke to them until, Gena came to live with us. Gena is my cousin some might say my sister,I actually call her my sister, now she was the initiator of the cockroach madness lol. I think it was a week after she just came to live with us that we went for a church trip at Adventure City. We got along lol

The cockroaches made up a huge part of my life I’ll never forget how boys can be so addictive! lol

By the time I left Emmasdale the cockroaches were up to 8 members!

HIGH SCHOOL LIFE

The year of 09 was a very eventful year, MJ died, music was changing, the “Illuminati” were recruiting lol and most importantly I made a lot of ….interesting friends

Let me start with 10A “09 at Roma Girls secondary school!

That class was full of some of the most intelligent girls you’d meet in your life, starting with the academic super stars, Liness Zulu, Malama Chitalima, (dems the babes that got awards like it was their job!),  the out of this world Nina Renlund, JETS queens Madaliso Daka, Lukundo Namuchimba, Josphine Chime, Chess prodigy and master instrument player Evelyn Banda,The Smalls: Mwengwe Muyuya,Chiselwa Mulela,Esther Tembo (short girls with big minds), The 116 Chicks: Chungu Mumba & Nachizo Sikombe (they love Jesus), our French/Rhumba Ambassador Dorkas Musuaya, the ever motherly Stacy Namakando,“Skin” lover the dimpled Allen,Bvulani, The ever noisy Mocksons: Mary Lungu, Natasha Mwape, Fanny Kasito, Emeldah Mwingila,Precious Mwanza, Lucy Hankombo and Kazumba Chibale, Miss Keri herself; Maureen Katalilo lol, Rwandan beauty Confiance Nd’ayishimiye, Roma Girls Royalty Annie Chiinga, “Long Hair, Don’t Care” Sissy Kalunga, Tonga Bull Makambe Ngandu, The Twins; Elizabeth Lubinda & Lillian Zulu, Popcorn supplier and the girl that brought “chimwela” Kutemba Chinambu, the class whisperers: Natalie Masamba, Makiku Shulu and Priscilla Mushota, Falsetto Mwape Ilunga, Chika Chilekwa (transferred) and of course Ballad Zulu’s daughter Wazakauye Zulu(me! lol)

That class made a lot of noise! But we had a lot of fun. In case they don’t remember, I was their first monitress lol ” Can you all shut the F U C K up!”

Now to individuals,

Lukundo Namuchimba met her in 2006, running lol she was Gena’s classmate at Bread of life on she was WAY taller than me! Was escorting Gena somewhere when we bumped into her in Emmasdale.

Allen Bvhulani I met her in grade 8 on our way to class, we just started chatting lol

Madaliso. my baby daddy, my bff… she fascinated me. She always seemed to be in a hurry for something, dimples as deep as the Pacific the first time she really caught my attention was in grade 10 when I was from taking a walk wit a friend of mine and then Mada goes “you waza, your ka friend is a friend prostitute” lol DONE!

Of course you know I can’t forget Liness, I mean are you even surprised that her name is here? TWICE!

Her rendition is different but from what I remember I first saw her in the dining hall buying I think it was Chiko lol and I thought she looked like another girl I knew. Then I saw her around Luanga ( sports house) with Stephanie. Then, in g9 awards time( it was a big fuss fr the nerds) I heard through the local nerd gossip that she was getting a lot of awards so one day, while we were standing in the lines at home time I was just like “hi liness” “hi” ” how many awards are you getting” ” four” me ” oh, I’m getting three”, and the rest…is history P.S She didnt get 4 she got Six…and also six poi…you know what…this is depressing me moving On!

Nachizo, who can forget her? lol when I remember how I started talking to her it was because she thought Jordan was her dream boy lol She always wanted to talk about Jordan, yaba that girl! She can be intense like that Jordan, Jordan, Jordan lol well at least it made us friends and another person that brought Nachizo and I together, Lexina.

But before we get to lexina, let’s talk about boys I met in the 09

Laurence Chileshe, then I knew him as Laurence the Casanova lol Dude is handsome I cant lie. The first time I spoke to him was after hearing about him from Evelyn and then she showed him to me. Then one day after CLC I was just like ” Hi laurence,do you know Evelyn” lol then he goes ” yeah she’s my friend” and that was that got in a few more Hi Laurence’s then became his friend friend in 2011.

Chanda Chitalima i just had to…our introduction was particularly unique. So Malama and I were selling our brothers lol then she wrote his number on the board and was like “someone should page him, make him irritated” so, having my Yolo moments I paged him, a lot…then he called me “who is this!” I replied ” uhh, malama told me to page you.” Then he cut and I texted,” Tell her it’s Waza.”

Then according to him, I said we should be friends (well,I liked his voice) and that was that.

Now, Lexina…first contact with the Borg Queen lol

Well now when you ask her she’ll also tell you another story ( as is with these Zulu’s)

But from what I remember *flashback* in 2008 she came back from Hilcrest and the nerd world was like “why the heck did she leave? and come back to Roma? Seriously!?”  The nerds loved Hilcrest. so one day I asked someone to show her to me,like show me this crazy girl, like let me see the insanity in this child. Someone showed her to me at home time, at the lines (as is) and she was like giggling with her friends (weird because I had never seen Liness even smile, girl has the craziest poker face) and I looked and I was like “She’s pretty”

Then I saw her around for a while when I was writing exams, she…was so…thin man her skirt was the longest and she is like 5’9 chiiiiiilllllld!

Then in the Oh NINE! She used to sell drinks in the DH and everybody knew she was Liness’ sister and everybody was nice to MY sister so I always said hi to her when I bought drinks and stuff. And then I was hiding in the bushes stalking her on awards day lol (jk!)

Then one day, I called Liness with the land line and was being silly and she laughed like manically, she laughed your friend, laughing she even sent me the “HAHAHAHA Wazakauye Zulu”

Then we were talking about Ellen then I was like “Is your sister there can I talk to her so she put her on the phone and I can’t remember what I said but she was talking funny lol

Then I went to school and Liness was still laughing at me. -___-

Then later in the day, Lexina came to our class and i was like “oh liness isn’t here” and she was like no, i came to see you (me chuffed lol) anyway long story short she told me to get her number from LinZ  so that I could send her talk time lol but I made Mwape send her t.t instead. And the rest is history…

2011-present

The only fascinating peoples I met in “11 was Benas Bmoney Banda. First I don’t know how he just appeared in the twitter circle, one day he was just there poof! And used to retweet a lot and I was like “Lukundo, who’s that boy that always re tweets your tweets?”. Then he started tweeting Liness, just mundane things at first and it took me a while to follow him back (I’m selectively social) which was a brilliant choice because him and LinZ entertained me with their escalated convo, even began calling them the tweeting love birds (eh never knew they would be actual love birds)

Then I actually saw him in the flesh at the Unashamed Concert. Laurence was like “there is Liness’ husband” and I was like Bmoney nice to meet you and he said ” and you are?” and I said “Waza” then I said ” let’s go and find your wife” then we went to find her and I left them to their Love Birdism…which was all on my twitter last December like DAMN!

This year I have met some very interesting people.

For one my friend master guitarist Isazu Makena, the guy can play! First time I met him was on a saturday at a youth meeting. He was just like ” I heard you play guitar” and I was like yeah, a bit then I played Russian Roulette for him(yes I always play it) and he was like “come to church on Monday, let’s practice together”

My brother from another mother Tiwonge “Tio” Joshua Chima. Met him at the same youth meeting that I met Isazu at but only spoke to him a week later. Actually, he spoke to me, the guy kept talking about guitar until it now started getting on my nerves lol and he spoke to me as if fr chikwela lol

Shawn . My former boss,Mangani’s younger brother. I met him when he came into the cafe in a black suit looking all neat and he was like extremely tall! And he sat on the PC and my work mate Maya said “Shawn this is Waza,Waza this is Shawn Mr Banda’s brother” And before he said anything I said “you’re long” then he laughed and in his awesome voice he said “don’t you mean tall” then i said “no long” then he said ” if I’m long then Mangani is? then I said “who’s mangani?” shawn laughed

Papias. This guy deserves his own blog post lol the guy is a beautiful nuisance! He is my former boss and Shawn’s baby brother (he’s my age tho). I saw him a couple of times before he actually spoke to him but I was first acquainted with his then girlfriend Zaliwe.

So one day, he came in with Zaliwe and I was minding my own business then she was leaving so he escorted her. me still minding my own business then he came back (like the sly fox he is) and  said ” hi what’s your name?” me ” waza and you are?” “Papias” “huh?” “papias” “spell that” “P a p i a s” “well i cant say that so I’ll just call you P” “you’re the second person that’s called me that” ” what do other people call you” “Papi chulo” “PAPI CHULO?” I died laughing. Then he said “nice to meet you Waza “nice to meet you too.”

And last but not least my dear amiga Victoria Chilufya! Saw her a span in grade 8 but never spoke to her then one day this year I just randomly inboxed her blabbing about a crush and it’s been beautiful ever since. ;0

Well thats it. Took me 4hrs to type this blog damn!!!!hope you enjoyed! xo

My life is an open book hehe
