5 Warning Signs of Bad Natural Hair Products

We always wonder what products will work those miracles we hear other natural haired women talk about. One tells you that she started using product a and all the frizz is gone. Another tells you that she started using product Q and now her hair is suuuuuper sooooft. *SIGH* There are no miracle products o!

However, there are some tips you can follow to keep you from buying products that will do more harm to your hair than good. Thanks to JC of Natural Haven, we have some tips here. Check out BGLH for details. So products to avoid include:

1. Any water based conditioner which does not list water as the first ingredient

2. Any product with fragrance in the first five ingredients

3. Any shampoo which does not contain an oil or silicone

4. Any product which is not a leave-in and contains mineral oil in the first five ingredients

5. Any product with an ingredient list that is missing or incomplete or too short

So what do you avoid when buying your hair products?

Keep it natural!

I’ve still got so many people to visit but I’m so broke!
Anyway,last night I had a weird dream and I was telling myself to buy organic products for my hair…lol

So here’s my shopping list….

2 spray bottles
2 oil bottles
1 Organics Shampoo
1 Organics Rinse out conditioner
1 Leave-in conditioner(the one I have don’t know it’s name :p)
1 Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
1 Pure Castor Oil
1 Pure coconut oil
1 Pure glycerin
1 Aloe Vera Juice
(my moisturizer is water)
1 Ecostyler gel….

That’s been my hair regimen the passed 3 months and it has worked so far,used to use shea butter but its expensive!

MAJOR Hair/Life Update

Okay so,I remember how I was all up on twitter ranting and ranting about how natural hair isn’t for everyone(which it isnt,it is not) but then I realized I never really got to fully take care of my natural curls/kinks…so….

I have made a conscious decision to long-term transition,for like 3 years or until I am comfortable with the length of my hair….

That being said,I am not ruling out the possibility of me texlaxing my hair…I don’t like the bone-straight look anymore…

My curls are actually sexier than I remember…hehe
So,I’m not going to retouch my hair in July or February but I might do length checks depending on my progress…

I was inspired to long term transition by Laila Jean Washington a.k.a fusion of cultures,she did a two year transition then BC’d,my cousin Shiloh,who is like 1 and has the biggest,curliest fro! And a few other long term transitioners i saw online who Big chopped and who didn’t big chop but kept working with the two textures.

God willing,I pull this off….and I’m going to be so busy at school,I’ll probably just be living in braids for the whole or most of the transition lol

Quick Hair Update

For my deep conditioner last week I used all natural product,honey, glycerin,coconut oil and sour milk and let me tell you,it was beautiful!
First my hair smelt like a Bounty Chocolate Bar lol and my hair was silky smooth! When I went to braid it yesterday the woman didn’t have to tear through my new growth!
Matter of fact I slept while she was braiding it!lol

The other day I went to visit Lexina and she was like “some of your hair broke off because of the dye” and I was lost because I don’t know whatever the hell she was talking about my hair was in a bun so how could she see my ends?… I don’t know,she should show me where it “cut” because everything looks fine.

I have about an inch and something of new growth just as planned but I’m not re-touching it til July.
Which brings me to my next point,since my school year has been extended, my 1st length check will be in July and not June and my hair journey check point will be in February of 2014 and not December of this year.

And that’s when my hair will go back to black….
